BP To Start Crude Unit Maintenance At Calif Refinery Tuesday -Source

BP PLC (BP, BP.LN) will begin planned maintenance at crude distillation unit at its oil refinery in Carson, Calif., on Tuesday, a person familiar with operations at the plant said on Monday.

The company filed a planned flaring event notification to the South Coast Air Quality Management District on Monday because flaring and emissions above the allowable daily limits could occur throughout the maintenance period, which will begin at around 8 a.m. PDT on Tuesday and end at about midnight on March 26.

The refinery was operating at planned rates last week after restarting a hydrocracker unit that had experienced an emergency shutdown on Feb. 24, the person said last week.

BP typically doesn't comment on day-to-day refining operations.
