2009 Jetta

43 highway in warm weather, 38 in cold. Thinner kero mix drops the MPG. Looking forward to warmth.

2012 Passat TDI SE, 6 MT with about 18,500 miles so far. Total average is 44.6 according to my Fuelly entries...I've gotten as much as 56.4 on a single trip. In the summer months, it hovers around 50mpg average. Loving it!

hrtdi,

A highway run, rather than short trips and some warmer weather will help get your MPG up. 37 MPG sounds like full tanks of strictly city driving.

My first diesel car.

Recently bought a used 2012 Golf wagon (JSW in the US) for less than a month now.

25 600 miles a poor 37 Mpg (mabye too much short rides in cold weather)

15 900 km 6.35 liters/100 km

Haven't been able to ride a full highway tank yet...I'll keep you informed...

On December 21 2010 I posted: 2010 TDi w/DSG getting 41.18 city/hwy based on my fuel log book on this site...

That was when I had my TDi only 2 months and at 4,992 miles.

On my 2 year anniversary fuel log book says 42.93 city/hwy at 28,126 miles.

My 2012 Golf TDI gets somewhere between 50 and 60 mpg. If I cruise at 45 mph in the right lane, I can get gas mileage in the 70s. I had a problem with the check engine light coming on, but the car was running beautifully. I thought it might have been a bad tank of diesel, so I tried to burn the fuel out of the tank by turning 59 South into an autobahn. I set the cruise control to 90 mph and dropped the gas mileage to 41 mpg. I gave up because I didn't have all day to drain the tank. The dealer replaced a glow plug and no more check engine light. Pretty good to get 41 mpg going 90 mph.

We just bought a 2010 TDI jetta about five days ago... it is showing 44.7 mpg... we have already put about 440 miles on it and I would say it is a 60/40 split highway/city.

It is a 6 speed manual and allot of fun to drive.

Metricauto:

That is excellent - 42 MPG (US gallon) or 51 MPG (Imperial). In Canada, we use the imperial calculation to give the impression that it gives a tremendous gas consumption.

My 1999 Passat 1.8T gives me 46 MPG (imperial) highway. Not bad for a gas-run vehicle.

Problem: lately, the NO readout seems very high and close to the allowable limit in our province of Ontario. Any ideas?

We got about 18.1 KM/L or (42mpg) in our 2009 TDI Jetta on a road trip that was Hwy speeds of 110-120KM/H) 65-70MPH about 800km (500 miles) per day 10 hours per day of driving with breaks, some mountain driving and lots of flat slight incline driving,

cruise control was used about 80% of the time.

80 KM/H or 55MPH seems to get 20KM/L on average from past trips we had at lower avgerage speed.

Made it from (North LA county) Santa Clara CA through San Francisco to Sacramento CA on one 55 liter (14 gal)tank of fuel w/ room to spare.

California does not advertise, if fuel is ULSD, But My research seemed to point that they switched to ULSD for highway vehicles back in 2006 and that by December 2010 the entire US will follow suit.
