It's Monday and time to evaluate last week's prediction for the Weekly Gasoline Price Outlook! Last week I forecasted that average prices would "fall slightly" to $2.79 in the U.S. and 103c/L in Canada. Well, prices did drop, but to $2.80 in the U.S. and to 103.4c/L in Canada. We'll call that very close on the prediction.

This week looks to feature falling prices for the early part of the week (now), but we'll likely see prices rise as the week continues. Economic conditions and a weaker dollar are the two things influencing prices higher so far this week. News of the Fed Reserve buying treasuries is pushing the dollar lower, which pressures oil prices to move higher.

I very rarely put stock in predictions but I appreciate the info. I just want to know when sanity will make a comeback and supply and demand will actually mean something again.

Predictions would mean more if the author gave his week-by-week track record over a year to see if he has better than a 50% prediction record

no fundamentals supply and demand behind this what so ever. it's OPEC's cutting supply by half to what it was a couple of years ago and also dictating the price of the barrel. wait until Iran detinates it's first nuke. $200-$300 barrel and we still haven't done nothing here for independance on all of the above energy. to many lawery's filing lawsuits. so the price of gas will be, well i don't want to wonder if well be living the lives like the movie the road warriors.

Prices dropped a smidge here about 2 wks ago. Steady since. Diesel is unnaturally stable, although that is good for the prices of everything that's moved by truck.

Prices will continue to skyrocket upwards. The oil pundits have way too much power, along with the politicians they have in their pockets. This is very evident, since our elected officials haven't passed any legislation to prohibit racketeering in this area.

It seems to be so much about timing and keeping a sense in the wind to see what is coming. I wonder what the election will do to affect the prices? More "change!" or gridlock?

Going up like it has been for the last month or so. It looks like Christmas will not be so nice in my household with having to spend way to much for gas right now!

If the Republicans take control of the Congress gas prices will sky rocket like they did during the Bush years. The US will fall into a deeper recession like during the Bush administration.
